Overview

Welcome to the International Conference on Education, Religion and Ethics in a Post-Pandemic World (ICERE 2024). This is a three-day, international and interdisciplinary, peer-reviewed special event. The hybrid format of ICERE 2024 welcomes participants to attend either in-person in Nagoya, Japan or online from September 27-29, 2024 at the Aichi Industrial & Labor Center (WINC Aichi).

Events

To help reduce waste, all registered, in-person participants will receive a single Quo prepaid gift card, which can be used in the WINC Cafe, convenience store and restaurants around the area. The prepaid card will be given to you when you first check-in for the event. Please note that lost or misplaced Quo cards will not be replaced nor can the Quo card be sold or refunded. The Quo prepaid gift card is not available for virtual presenters.

Common Questions

Hotel Accommodation [back to top of questions]

  1. Does the event agreements with hotels for reduced rates or block bookings?
    Normally, hotels in Japan do not offer reduced rates for events. For hotel reservations, it is best to consult an online hotel booking service or to contact a hotel directly based on your budget.

Illness & Emergencies [back to top of questions]

  1. What if I am unable to attend after registering?
    Contact the ICERE 2024 Secretariat immediately for rescheduling options.
  2. If I am unable to present, may my colleague present on my behalf?
    Only if your colleague is a co-presenter and listed on the original submission.

Meals & Receptions [back to top of questions]

  1. Will breakfast or lunch be provided? To reduce waste, all registered participants will receive a single Quo prepaid gift card, which can be used in the WINC Cafe, convenience store and restaurants around the area. The prepaid card will be given to you when you first check-in for the event. 
  2. Will there be a welcome reception? Yes. Invitations to the Welcome Dinner will be given to the first 20 confirmed registrants; thereafter, a limited number Welcome Dinner tickets can be purchased at the registration table.  Please understand that the capacity of the restaurant is limited. Priority will be given to confirmed registrants only.

Presentations & Equipment [back to top of questions]

  1. How much time is given for oral and poster presentations?
    Oral presenters will have 20-25 minutes including post-presentation Q&A. Poster sessions are 45 to 60 minutes (with 15 minutes for set up).
  2. What equipment is provided for oral presentations?
    Each room is equipped with a projector, screen and podium. Presenters are expected to bring their own computer which will be connected to the projector with an HDMI cable.
  3. What is the format for Virtual Presentations? For security purposes, only registered participants with accepted applicants will be granted access to the link. Contact the Secretariat if you need assistance and be sure to state your acceptance number in your inquiry.
  4. What equipment is provided for poster presentations?
    Boards mounted on stands will be provided with tape. Posters should be A0 47 x 33 inches (118cm x 84cm).

Registration, Receipts and Certificates [back to top of questions]

  1. Does my registration payment include fees for co-authors also attending?
    No. If your co-author will present with you, then he/she must register separately as a presenter.
  2. What does the registration fee include?
     Access to all sessions, listing in the schedule program, certificate of presentation or attendance and access to the proceedings. In addition, a prepaid Quo card will be given to registered participants to use for purchasing coffee, snacks and meals at WINC Aichi.
  3. What doesn’t the registration fee include?
    The registration fee does not include transportation or accommodation nor obliges visa support.
  4. What is the refund policy?
    Request for refunds must be received by August 31, 2024. Penalties will apply.
  5. How can I receive a receipt for my registration payment?
    Registrants will receive an e-receipt and a hard copy onsite. Virtual presenters will receive only an e-receipt.
  6. Will presenters and audience receive official certification of having attended and/or presented?
    Yes. Onsite participants will receive a certificate of presentation. Please note the virtual presenters will receive an e-certificate shortly after the event.
  7. Are group registration rates available for presenters and audience? Yes. Groups of 4 or more participants can receive a slight discount rate. All members of the group must register together. Group rates are not available for onsite payment. Contact the Secretariat for details.

Scholarships & Funding [back to top of questions]

  1. Does INTESDA offer scholarships for domestic and international students?
    This is a small event with a small budget. We hope this will change in the future.
  2. Does INTESDA offer waivers for participants from low-income countries?
    Participants unable to manage the onsite fee, should consider attending as a virtual presenters or audience. The fee for virtual participation is a reduced rate.
  3. Does INTESDA provide visa assistance to scholarship or grant recipients?
    No. Please refer to the section on “Visa and Invitation Letters” for details.

Submissions, Reviews & Proceedings [back to top of questions]

  1. Why must I provide my email address at my university to submit a proposal?
    The university registered email address is required for verification and security purposes. Submissions and inquiries sent from Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail and other private email accounts will not be answered.
  2. How are abstract submissions reviewed?
    All submissions are graded using a double blind, peer review process. The abstract is scored using a rubric that assessed areas such as originality, clarity/organization, spelling/grammar and suitability for the event.
  3. When will I be notified if my proposal has been rejected or accepted? Depending on the volume of submissions received, we try to send decisions within a few weeks of receiving the submission.
  4. Is it required to submit a full paper?
    No. If you would like to submit a paper, please review the Submission Guidelines.
  5. May I edit my proposal after submission?
    Yes. Edits will be permitted up to 1 month prior to the event.
  6. When will the proceedings be available?
    Shortly after the event in electronic format. We will send you a link.

Visas & Invitation Letters [back to top of questions]

  1. How can I know if I need a visa for travel?
    Contact the nearest Embassy or Consulate of Japan for details.
  2. What visa support is provided by the organizers?
    There are two types of invitation letters: a PDF acceptance letter with an invitation to present, which the organizers provide free-of-charge to all accepted proposals; the second type is a formal invitation letter for travel, which requires additional fees due to the complexity of the application.   3. What if my visa application is rejected?
    All decisions by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are final. We cannot and will not assist you if your travel application is rejected.
  4. What if I need a letter of guarantee?
    We regret that Letters of Guarantee are not provided. Requests will not be answered.
  5. Does this event have a Force Majeure Policy?
    Yes. The organizers of ICERE 2024 cannot and will not be held responsible if the ICERE 2024 is postponed or cancelled due to natural disasters (fire, storms, earthquakes, hurricanes,  floods), governmental or societal actions (war, invasion, civil unrest, labor strikes), infrastructure failures (transportation, energy), pandemic-related developments, epidemics of diseases whereupon the government initiates an emergency declaration that forces the closure of a building, city, region or country and reduces, limits or orders austere travel restrictions. The latter would include any governmental order prohibiting the conduct of a meeting or restricting the size of a meeting to no greater than a specified number of attendees. Moreover, a failure to meet the minimum number of submissions and registrants required for the event to be viable or any other cause reasonably beyond the parties’ control (collectively referred to as “occurrences”), making the event commercially impracticable, impracticable to perform, illegal, or impossible to fully perform under this Agreement as the Parties originally contracted.  In such cases, the affected Party may terminate this Agreement, without liability, upon written notification. In such an event, the organizers will make every effort refund the full amount of the registration fee for participants that have paid the ICERE 2024 registration fee.
