How to get from the Airport to the HISTEM 2026 Venue Hotel?
HISTEM2026 is conveniently located at the Airport Honolulu Hotel, which offers free shuttles from the airport to the hotel every hour.
HISTEM2026 will be held at the Airport Honolulu Hotel Conference Center. With quick access to downtown Honolulu and Waikiki, as well as excellent conference facilities, friendly staff, classic amenities and a convenient location, the Airport Honolulu Hotel is an excellent venue for HISTEM2026 participants looking to escape the hustle and bustle of city traffic and explore the most popular attractions of Oahu.
Alternatively, if you would like to enjoy the weather and do not feel like waiting for the shuttle, it is only 15 minutes on foot from the airport to the hotel. See the map for directions.
How to get from Airport Honolulu Hotel to Waikiki?
There are various Honolulu Airport transfers, taxis, Uber, rental cars, and public buses. Check out all the options and rates below and find the ride that meets all your requirements.
The fastest transportation option between HNL Airport and Waikiki is almost certainly a taxi service (it takes around 25 minutes), but it is also one of the priciest transfers – $45. The cheapest (but the slowest) transportation option is definitely public bus – routes 19 and 20 can take you to Waikiki for only $2.50. There is a middle ground; use one of the airport shuttles with rates as low as $7. They are slower than taxi rides but faster than public buses and offer competitive rates.
You can find numerous Honolulu airport shuttle providers operating to/from Daniel K. Inouye International Airport. It might be stressful to find the best ride when you have so many choices, but we will save your time and money by listing every airport transfer along with their rates.
Honolulu Airport Taxi
Taxi service is probably one of the fastest Honolulu Airport transfers, and you can easily find a taxi rank on the center median fronting the terminal baggage claim area. On the other hand, taxi cabs are more expensive than airport shuttles and buses, so choose your transportation option wisely if you’re trying to reduce your expenses.
- AMPCO Express is the official taxi company authorized to operate at HNL Airport. The taxi fare from Honolulu Airport to Waikiki is approximately $40-45.
Note that there is a baggage charge as well, and you have to pay 50 cents per bag.
If you have any questions, feel free to call AMPCO at (808) 861-8294.
Public Transportation
The City & County of Honolulu provides public bus transportation (The Bus) which is operating to and from Honolulu Airport, and it is by far the cheapest airport shuttle transfer you could find. So, if you want to cut your costs and you don’t have a lot of luggage, use one of the three routes that serve HNL:
- Route No. 19 – the eastbound route runs to Kalihi Kai, downtown Honolulu, the Honolulu Civic Center, Ala Moana Shopping Center, and finally Waikiki;
- Route No. 20 – the eastbound route is the same; the westbound route runs to the Arizona Memorial, Aloha Stadium, Aiea, and finally Pearlridge Shopping Center;
- Route No. 31 – to Kalihi Transit Center.
The buses have numerous departures from HNL Airport every day, and you can find the shuttle bus stops / departure locations on the second level roadway (along the center median).
The bus fares are very affordable:
- the one-way fare for adults is only $2.50;
- the one-way fare for children and students (6-17) is $1.25.
Rental Cars
This is probably the most convenient Honolulu Airport transfer. If you rent a car at HNL, you will be able to explore beautiful Oahu island at your own pace. You can find registration counters in the Baggage Claim area. On-airport rental offices are situated on the ground level of the Parking Garage at Terminal 2. There is courtesy shuttle service, and stops are along the center median on the ground level.
