The average temperature in Hiroshima in November for a typical day ranges from a high of 60°F (15°C) to a low of 45°F (7°C). Some would describe the temperature to be moderately chilly. The general area may also feel breezy. It is best to bring a travel umbrella — just in case.
Attire
During the ICERE2025 event sessions, the expected dress code is business casual.
Meals

ICERE2025 will include a welcome reception on the first day. Please see our Venue & Events page for details. Please note that other meals are not provided.
For participants wishing to have lunch or a coffee, the area in and around Hiroshima Station is a major shopping and entertainment district.

All sessions and the welcome reception will be held in the Hiroshima City Garden Event Center, which is a 5-minute walk from Hiroshima Station Exit 5.
Transportation to Hiroshima

Traveling to Hiroshima by Train?
Tokyo and Hiroshima are connected with each other by the JR Tokaido/Sanyo Shinkansen. Direct Nozomi trains require about four hours to reach Hiroshima from Tokyo. By Hikari and Sakura trains, the trip takes about five hours with a transfer of trains at Shin-Osaka Station.
The regular one way fare from Tokyo to Hiroshima is 18,380 yen for a non-reserved seat on any train, around 19,000 yen for a reserved seat on Hikari and Sakura trains and around 19,500 yen for a reserved seat on a Nozomi train. The Japan Rail Pass is valid on Hikari and Sakura trains, but a supplement fee of 6,500 yen has to be paid if using a Nozomi train.
Traveling to Hiroshima by Express Bus?
Multiple companies, including Willer Express, operate overnight buses between Tokyo and Hiroshima. One way fares vary greatly based on travel date, company and bus type between around 6,000 and 18,000 yen. If used effectively, the Japan Bus Pass can reduce the cost for the bus trip to around 3,000 yen. Online reservations for some of the buses can be made through Willer and Japan Bus Online.
Flying to Hiroshima Airport?
AL and ANA operate several flights per day between Hiroshima and Tokyo‘s Haneda Airport, while the low-cost carrier Spring Japan serves Tokyo’s Narita Airport.
Hiroshima Airport is a 50 minute, 1450 yen bus ride outside of the city center.
Taxi fares from Hiroshima Airport to downtown will be upwards of 15,000 yen. On top of that you will need to pay the expressway toll fee. There is also a late night 20% surcharge between 22.00 and 5.00.
What if I arrive late at night and airport transportation is not available?
If your plane arrives late at Hiroshima Airport you may need to stay overnight. Hiroshima Airport Hotel is conveniently located next to Hiroshima Airport.
Visa
According to the Japan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as of 2024, passport holders from (67) countries have visa exemptions for entering Japan, and do not need to apply for a visa with an invitation letter.

Invitation Letters
If you are from a country without a visa exemption, then you will need an invitation letter when applying for visa permission to travel to Japan, which can be prepared for registered presenters and audience on a case-by-case basis by the event organizer. Participants requesting to register onsite are not eligible for invitation letters. If you are unsure, please contact the Embassy or Consulate of Japan nearest you for travel requirements.
Scholarships, Funding & Waivers
- Does ICERE2025 award student grants, scholarships or waivers?
Yes. Five (5) merit-based grants and waivers will be given to students attending institutions in Hiroshima. - Does ICERE2025 assist presenters from Low Economic Income Countries?
Yes. Eligible candidates must currently reside in an LEI country and must have a proposal that has been accepted for presentation.
