The 3rd Pacific Rim Energy and Sustainability Conference – Held in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA & Online from Sunday through Tuesday, August 24-26, 2025»
Welcome to PRESCO 2025
We welcome you to join us next spring in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA for The 3rd Pacific Rim and Energy Conference. PRESCO2025 will be held from Sunday through Tuesday, August 24-26, 2025. Held in the beauty and splendor of the Hawaiian Islands, PRESCO2025 will convene leading scholars, policymakers, educators, and stakeholders from around the world to deliberate on the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead in the fields of energy and sustainability.
The first PRESCO was held in Hiroshima, Japan in 2012 to explore the challenges and opportunities following the 2011 devastating 9.0 earthquake and 40m high tsunami that ravaged the Japan. This natural disaster also caused the Fukushima nuclear meltdown, which led to a global mistrust of nuclear energy policies as demand for nuclear electricity generation declined. Since then, the attitudes towards energy and sustainability have had its own ups and downs from the launch of the Sustainable Development Goals to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Now, as the world’s population becomes predominantly urban, academics and practitioners are challenged to find sustainable solutions to increasingly complex urban problems. Sustainable energy and the cities in which we live, require a balance between environmental protection and economic development ensuring equitable outcomes. Achieving such a delicate balance requires tackling complex urban problems that may lead to unsustainable development paths.
PRESCO2025 is a three-day, peer-reviewed, international conference that invites in-person oral and poster presenters as well as audience. In addition, online virtual sessions are also available for participants that are unable to travel to Honolulu. PRESCO2025 will be held at the Airport Honolulu Hotel Conference Center.
Thus, with the theme of ‘Sustainable Energy and Cities,’ we invite members of the academic community and practitioners to present research on energy and sustainability.
