Nagoya has a humid subtropical climate with hot summers and cool winters. The summer is noticeably wetter than the winter, although rain falls throughout the year.


During the event sessions, the expected dress code is business casual. If you will be traveling around the city, we suggest wearing comfortable shoes and to bring a light jacket and hat.

The G-SLATE 2019 sessions will be held at the Nagoya Tokyu REI is located in the city center’s Sakae district, east of Nagoya station, a bustling area with many offices, hot shopping spots, and dining opportunities. At just a seven-minute walk from Sakae and Fushimi subway stations, the hotel has 297 rooms. Amenities include Satellite TV (regular channels and VOD) , refrigerator, hair dryer, pants press, bidet, LAN cable, coffee/tea set, slippers, body wash, facial & hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, toothbrush set, razor, shower cap, hair brush, body sponge, Q-tips, laundry service and nightwear. Check-in 3:00 p.m. / Check-out 10:00 a.m.

It is not required to stay at the venue hotel. All participants are responsible for making his or her own hotel reservation. The cost of the hotel room is not included in the registration fee. Any guestroom changes, cancellations, disputes, etc., are the participant’s responsibility.

A limited number of single rooms are being held at the Nagoya Sakae Tokyu REI Hotel for registered participants only. Contact the event coordinator for details.


Getting to the Nagoya Sakae Tokyu REI Hotel

The hotel can easily be accessed by bus, taxi and subway:

  • 8 minutes on foot from both Sakae Station Exit 8 and Fushimi Station Exit 4
  • 10 minutes by taxi from the Exit Sakuraguchi of JR Nagoya Station
  • 45 minutes by express train from Chubu International Airport

International Travelers

The nearest airport to Central Japan International Airport. It has daily connecting service to most other major airports in Japan. Trains from the airport reaches downtown Nagoya in less than 30 minutes.

With Meitetsu Line it is possible to arrive to Nagoya station in only 28 minutes. In Nagoya Station you can change trains to Shinkansen bullet train, JR lines, Kintetsu lines, and Nagoya subway lines.

Domestic Travelers

The Nagoya subway includes six lines: Higashiyama, Meijo, Meiko, Tsurumai, Sakuradori, and Kamiida.  As a loop, the Meijo line connects to all other subway lines at Sakae, Kanayama and elsewhere, making it a convenient way to get around the city. The main tourist attractions in the city are within walking distance of the subway.

Subway fares range from ¥200 (¥100 for child under 12 years) for one zone to ¥330 (¥160 for child under 12 years) for five zones. Special, convenient tickets are also available, including a 1 day pass for a day of unlimited rides on city buses and the subway (which costs ¥850 for adult,¥430 for child under 12 years for both bus and subway, or ¥740 for adult, ¥370 for child under 12 years for just the subway), and the Donichi Eco Kippu ticket (¥600 for adult,¥300 for child under 12 years), which allows unlimited rides on city buses and the subway on weekends, public holidays, and the eighth of each month (Environmental Conservation Day).
